What are problems from mining the Ocean?
  1. Mining pollutes the Ocean which kills animals, and interrupts the food chain.

What are the rights?

What our Group Suggests to the Big Mining Companies

The Oceans are for everyone and the main minerals from the Oceans are salt. Any country that is neighbored by the sea should get a profit from it. But also, every country has to have some sort of resource and not everyone needs to have water even thought its essential. Trading is the main point that will give these countries their water and they can benefit from, other natural resources and trade those. In our opinion, there should be mining happening because it is one of the jobs that keeps humans alive and like there is the: if you kill one tree you seed 2 more, and if u mine a place, you have to plant other trees and once you finish mining you have to bring the place to the original look. Bring the animals in and make sure everything is the same as before.

 Reflection on Group Discussion

I think our group really discussed the topic thoroughly, we covered all possibilities and tried to give everyone a chance, even though some people like Yasmin who just came to visit couldn't give too much imput. We discussed many global issues to do with mining and minerals and the current lack of non-renewable resources. Though I think that our group could have discussed more in depth if we were given an extended time limit. Some problems arose, for example Luka was speaking buisiness whereas Maryam was saying that we should help people and give everyone a chance.I for one think that I did quite a lot of talking even though I tried to let other group members have a chance. Alex did an  excellent job at writing every detail of our discussion. Maryam really opened up my mind to feel about other cultures and people too Maryam is always looking for a fair and reasonable way to do things and I respect that.

Overall I think the entire group did a very good job at expressing their opinions and at the same time keeping quiet. We all overcame the obstacles that we faced and settled our differences even though we all had different opinions on our topic. I found that one other group in particular was being very loud, maybe because of Mateja or maybe because they all had different opinions but I have to say there was a lot of noise coming from over there. We had a big discussion about pummice and if it should be an ocean mineral because it doesn't form in the ocean but it can be caused by underwater volcanoes; but in the end we all agreed that it could be classified as one of the oceans minerals.

    1. This is sooooo much better Alfie! Well done! I like how you commented on how everyone contributed to the group and that Maryam opened up your mind. :)
