iPhone keylogger can snoop on desktop typing

A new development in virus software can now infect the iPhone or iPod touch. It looks like an innocent app in the app-store but its actually a very sophisticated virus system. Most people when they get home from school (I know I do) sit down next to their computer and do their homework, usually with their iPhone or iPod touch sitting about 30 cm away from them. This virus uses the built in motion sensor, picks up vibrations, look through key pairs, find the right letters to build up the word using the built in 700 word dictionary and then translate it into readable text using auto- translate.

iphone 3g sideAfter it has finished eavesdropping it sends the finished text to the hacker where he can read it. Apple claims to be virus free, this little virus proves otherwise. All of this may seem a little too James Bond/ Si-Fi but some people are also developing ways to read minds. With that in mind, we could be facing millions of ways for people on the other side of the world to access your personal information.

I find this information very disturbing, to think that someone could be watching or listening to me right now is really weird. But luckily there are some ways to prevent this horror from happening to you, not that anyone would be paranoid enough to do this, change your desk to one made of stone so  that the vibrations can't get through to the iPhone. Another, and much easier way of dealing with this problem is to place your iPhone or iPod touch at least a foot away from the computer. All that I can say is that I hope popular anti-virus softwareis up to date or we are all doomed. :)

  1. Wow. This is kind of creepy. What is the name of this virus? How can we protect ourselves from it? Did the article say? I like how you included your own thoughts into your summary, but please keep in mind that you need to also include a reflection paragraph. Use the paper I gave you in September to help you.
